When used against monsters, different colored effects will signify how many more hits are needed to trigger an explosion. When affected, all blocking attempts will fail so it is advised to pay attention to the status icons next to the Hunter's name. Even blocked attacks can inflict this status. Movement isn't hindered, but Hunters affected by it suffer a damaging explosion if struck by a monster, or if the status isn't rid of quickly by rolling a few times. Known as Slimeblight in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and Blastblight in Monster Hunter 4 onwards, this ailment will cover the Hunter in slime or explosive powder. By rotating the analog stick used for movement in a circular motion and tapping the evasion button, the player can snap out of it on their own. The duration of the stun can be increased, decreased, or negated altogether with an appropriate skill. If a Flash Bomb is used then the monster is KO'd by an Impact hit, more stars circle around its head than normal but the effect duration is the same. When a monster is inflicted with it by use of a Flash Bomb, it attacks randomly until the effect wears off and if inflicted by repeated Impact-type attacks (such as Hammer or Hunting Horn), the monster is completely immobilized for a short while. All monsters can inflict Stun by means of repeated physical attacks, but some can inflict it immediately by emitting an extremely bright flash of light, or another special technique. The visual indication is a ring of yellow stars spinning above the affected target's head. When Stunned/Knocked Out, movement, attacking and items are completely disabled. Occurs when a Hunter receives many attacks in a short period of time, but some monster attacks are guaranteed to cause it if they hit. Speed increased and Attack Deflection Negated.
